NDT INSPECTION

Benor offers conventional Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) methods performed by certified personnel according to ISO 9712 and Nordtest, with appropriate knowledge and experience.

VT, PT, MT, ET, UT, RT

Benor provides all the listed standard conventional NDT methods:

  • Ultrasonic Testing of welds and materials by use of conventional UT and Phased Array

  • Thickness measurements UTM/ Corrosion measurements

  • Eddy Current Testing (ET) on coated materials

  • Magnetic Particle Testing (MT)

  • Penetrant Testing (PT)

  • Radiography of welds (RT)

  • Visual welding inspection

  • Video inspection

Spectrographic Analysis/PMI

Material identification and analysis using a mobile Optical Emission Spectrometer (OES) for the precise analysis of key elements, rapid material verification, PMI (Positive Material Identification) and sorting of different materials.

If a material certificate is missing or it is not clear what the composition of a material is, then PMI is the solution.

Hardness Testing HT of weld and materials

Hardness testing with mobile hardness gauges (King Brinell, Equotip, Poldi) Vickers, Rockwell and Brinell methods.

Static hardness testing on a bench using Rockwell and Brinell methods.

Hardness tests can provide useful information about metallic materials.

This information may correlate to tensile strength, wear resistance, ductility, or other physical characteristics of metallic materials, and may be useful in quality control and selection of materials.

Video inspection

Visual inspection inside pipes and pipelines, to determine the condition of the internal surface.

Results are presented in a visual report with customers' acceptance criteria and a conclusion.

On request the inspection can be supplied on DVD.

Visual inspection, with or without optical aids, is the original method of NDT. Many defects are visible at the surface and can be detected by careful visual scrutiny.

Optical aids include low-power magnifiers, microscopes, telescopes and also specialised devices such as boroscopes, endoscopes and other fibre-optic devices for the inspection of restricted access areas. These devices can also be used with television camera systems. Much of the success of visual inspection depends on the surface condition and the lighting arrangements. Surface preparation such as cleaning and etching is often used, and also surface replicas can be taken for both macro and microscopic examination. In-situ metallography is also possible.

Level 3 Services

NDT level 3 services for the selection and implementation of NDT procedures.

For customers who require the input of a level 3 but prefer not to hire a full time professional.

Each situation is unique so services are customized to the specific requirements of the customer, to make certain that your NDT program complies with established standards and delivers optimal efficiency.

Coating Thickness Inspection

Coating thickness measurements: for any non-magnetic coatings on steel such as paint, enamel, chrome, zinc etc. for any isolating finish on non-ferrous metals such as paint, anodising, ceramics on aluminium, copper, zinc die-cast, brass, etc.
